Yoga for Anxiety & Depression
Find calm, connection, and balance through a gentle and trauma-sensitive yoga practice designed to support emotional wellbeing. This 6 week Program, offered through a weekly 75 minute class at Mudjimba Community Hall, offers a space to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with your body in a safe and supportive environment. Led by a compassionate and experienced Psychotherapist and Yoga Teacher, the sessions integrate evidence-based principles from both yoga and psychology to give you tools which may ease symptoms of anxiety and depression over time, support regulation of the nervous system, and foster greater self-awareness and resilience.
Research increasingly shows that yoga can reduce stress hormones, calm the body’s fight-flight response, improve mood, and enhance overall mental health. Through mindful movement, breathwork, and relaxation practices, you will learn skills that can support emotional balance and restore a sense of groundedness both on and off the mat.
I believe that safety and comfort are essential to healing, and, given we're all unique individuals, that safety may look different for everyone. So this class is delivered in a trauma-sensitive manner - you’ll always have choice in how you participate, and there’s no pressure to push or perform. The pace is gentle, the tone is invitational, and the focus is on creating a compassionate, non-judgmental space where you can be curious and explore what feels right for you and your body.
Who it’s for:
- Anyone experiencing mild to moderate symptoms of stress, anxiety, or low mood on occasions
- Those seeking a gentle, body-based approach to emotional wellbeing
- Individuals who may be curious about how yoga could support mental health, even if you haven't tried it before
